my fiance and i loved the look of this cup, so we purchased two before putting it on our registry because well, they are kind of expensive (and we needed something out drink out of). i now have about 1/8'' of water stuck between the two walls. we love them and use them frequently, and have put them in the dishwasher without any disastrous results, but the other day when i pulled the cup out of the dishwasher there was still some dirty spots on it, so i soaked the cup in hot water. this was a BAD idea. i called bodum and unfortunately there is nothing that i can do about the water, short of sticking a needle in the pressure valve, which means that i will always have water in between the two walls.so if you have to soak it, soak it upside down as to not get water in it. other than this, i love these cups.
These are absolutely NOT dishwasher safe.So if you don't mind a plastic mat in your sink, handwashing this mug, and, in general, treating it delicately then I recommend it. The mistake I made with the second mug was putting it in the dishwasher.
They are light, beautiful, retain heat very well, and are cool to the touch. I also love this particular sized mug, I think it is the best of the series.
Everything is perfect about these mugs, except for how insanely easily they break. I never put it in the dishwasher, always used a saucer, and was careful.
I didn't have any heat issues, I would pour almost boiling water directly into the mug without issue.Now the caveat. I was extremely careful with my first mug and it lasted a while before it hit the bottom of the sink while being washed and cracked.
It cracked upon being in the dishwasher one time. Honestly, even though two have broken I plan on buying another one because the mug really is that great.until it cracks.
When the second set of mugs arrived they were in the same condition as the first set. I purchased these mugs for my son-in-law after he sent me a link from his Christmas wish list. They have since returned them to you for credit (they decided to try and find the mugs elsewhere) but according to my current online bankcard statement I have not been credited for the purchase. When they arrived there was an audible broken glass sound when the package was moved. I did not have time to make an exchange before Christmas so I left it up to my daughter and son-in-law to handle the return after the holiday. All of my prior experiences shopping with Amazon have been very good so I would appreciate having this cleared up as soon as possible. Thank you, Jill Fender
There are a few reviewers that had that problem. My wife wanted big clear mugs to see the "milk swirls in her tea", so I picked these up. I even made her open them a few days before Christmas to be sure. They work great. I was a little worried that they would be broken when they arrived in the mail. No problems though. I do hand wash them as I don't trust them surviving the top rack of a dishwasher.Overall, I am very happy and they work great.
Really enjoy using the mug as it does a great job of keeping liquid hot or cold. The manufacturers packing could be better as one of the two in the box arrive is very small pieces.
